Care and Maintenance Guide

Quick Care (everyday)

  • Wipe the handle dry after each use.
  • Keep it out of puddles and drip trays; never soak.
  • Normal machine heat is fine, but avoid direct steam blasts onto the wood.
  • Never put the handle (or any wooden part) in a dishwasher.

Cleaning

  • Use a lint-free towel.
  • Keep detergents, descalers, and backflush chemicals off the wood.If you’re backflushing, ensure cleaners don’t touch the handle.
  • Avoid bleach, solvents, abrasive pads, and alcohol-based cleaners on the wood.

Conditioning (once a month or when the wood looks dry)

  • Clean and fully dry the handle.
  • Apply a thin coat of food-grade mineral oil or a food-safe wax (e.g., a beeswax–mineral oil “board cream”).
  • Let it absorb for 15–20 minutes. Wipe off excess.
  • For wax, buff gently after 1 hour.

Tip: Avoid common cooking oils (canola/olive): they can turn rancid. If you prefer nut-based oils (e.g., walnut), consider allergen sensitivities.

Refinishing small scuffs

  • Lightly sand with the grain using 600–800 grit.
  • Remove dust, then re-oil or wax as above.
  • For deep cracks or structural damage, stop using the handle and contact us

Heat, Moisture & Storage

  • Wood moves with climate. Aim for 40–60% RH, 15–25 °C.
  • Don’t leave the handle in direct sun, on radiators, or in standing water.
  • After cleaning your machine, dry any moisture near the handle ferrule/threads.

Hardware check

  • Inspect monthly. Ensure the handle is snug but do not overtighten. Hand-tighten only; avoid impact tools.
  • If you notice looseness recurring, consult us for the correct fix for your model.

Stains & Odors

  • Wipe coffee spills promptly.

Safety Notes

  • Not a toy; keep away from children.
  • Discontinue use if the handle becomes cracked, loose, or unstable.
